Inbox Sync vs Email Authentication
In order to send emails using any new software system, and have the emails truly sent on behalf of your domain, it's important that you "authenticate" this new system as a sender. The reason for this is because without doing so, recipient servers may think that you are an illegitimate sender doing something called "spoofing" and therefore the email might go to spam.
There are two ways to authenticate your sending using VipeCloud: Inbox Sync and Email Authentication.
Inbox Sync
This enables communication between your current email client (Google Workspace, Office 365, etc) and VipeCloud. With inbox sync enabled, VipeCloud emails can be sent through your own exchange and therefore will be authenticated.
There are a host of additional benefits to inbox sync, including:
- 1. See emails sent from your email client in VipeCloud
- 2. See emails sent from VipeCloud in your email client's sent folder
- 3. Set series automations to cancel and / or create tasks if contact replies
Most users won't want to send mass emails through their own exchanges. One reason for this is because of sending limits on your exchange. If you are sending through VipeCloud's servers, you will want to authenticate VipeCloud as a sender for your domain:
Authenticating VipeCloud As A Sender
This involves adding several authentication records to your DNS, which is likely managed by the domain registrar from whom you purchased your domain (Godaddy, Namecheap, HostGator etc). You can think of these records as essentially being a public statement telling the email sending world that VipeCloud is permitted to send emails on behalf of your domain.

If you have an IT professional who handles these sorts of things for you, send them the email deliverability test linked at the bottom of this page, and tell them to contact us at support@vipecloudms.wpenginepowered.com if they have any questions.
If you don't have an IT professional you work with, then send us an email at support@vipecloudms.wpenginepowered.com and we'll be more than happy to get you squared away.
Which Should You Set Up? Inbox Sync and/or Email Authentication?
We generally recommend that both are set up. Combined, they help ensure that you have access to all of the benefits of VipeCloud and that your emails are set up for maximum deliverability.
